We eagerly await the summer solstice on Thursday, June 20th at 5:50 p.m. The summer solstice occurs when the Earth's North Pole has its maximum tilt toward the Sun. This is the day with the longest period of daylight and shortest night of the year, when the Sun is at its highest position in the sky, marking the first day of summer.

In Bathurst, New Brunswick, the sun will rise at 5:24 am and set at 9:24 pm, giving us 16 hours of daylight. At its apogee, the sun will be 66ยฐ above the horizon.

Join us in celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day on Friday, June 21st! This special day honors the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Mรฉtis peoples in Canada.

For generations, many Indigenous groups and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on June 21st, the summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year. This time of year holds great significance and is a perfect opportunity to recognize the deep traditions and vibrant diversity of Indigenous peoples.

On June 21st, Canada celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Day, which was originally known as National Aboriginal Day. This day was proclaimed in 1996 by Romรฉo LeBlanc, the Governor General of Canada, to honor the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding achievements of Indigenous peoples across the country.

Invite everyone to join the celebrations and learn about the rich cultural heritage of Indigenous communities. Letโ€™s honor and respect the traditions and contributions that shaped our nation.
